Effectiveness of the therapeutic method on 136 cases of severe acute pancreatitis.

Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of the current method for the treatment of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). Method Clinical data of 136 cases of SAP between March 2001 and March 2008 were analyzed. Result There were 102 non-routine surgery, 8 cases of death (7.8%) and 12 cases of pseudocyst (11.8%). For the 34 cases of routin surgery, 8 patients of death (23.5%), 4 cases complicated by pseudocyst (11.8%),6 cases with intra-abdominal hemorrhage (17.6%),8 cases with pancreatic fistula (23.5%)and 2 cases with intestinal fistula (5.9%). Conclusion According to the principle of non-surgical treatment of patient with SAP, comprehensive treatment is superior to early surgery. For the patients with sever conditions and complicated with organ failure, increasing the yellow liver jaundice, accumulation of pancreatic fluid, high fever and suspected pancreatic duct infection with severe acute pancreatitis,surgery may be a reasonable choice.
