Expression of serum Fascin-1 in breast cancer and its clinical significance

2019
Objective To analyze the expression of serum Fascin-1 in breast cancer and its clinical significance. Method The expression of serum Fascin-1 in 120 breast cancer patients and 26 healthy controls were analyzed by ELISA. Results (1)The expression level of serum Fascin-1 in breast cancer patients was not significantly different from that in healthy controls(P=0.549). (2)The expression level of serum Fascin-1 in breast cancer patients increased with the increase of histological grade(P=0.013). The expression level of serum Fascin-1 in breast cancer patients was not related to the age (P=0.402), tumor size (P=0.446), lymph node metastasis (P=0.902), clinical stage (P=0.249), estrogen receptor (ER) status (P=0.917), progesterone receptor (PR) status (P=0.213), epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status (P=0.213), BMI (P=0.512), and the state of operation (P=0.372). (3)There was a tendency of increased Fascin-1 expression in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) compared with other molecular subtypes, but the difference was not statistically significant (P=0.733). Conclusion The expression of serum Fascin-1 was higher in breast cancer patients with higher histological grade. The relationship between the expression of serum Fascin-1 and breast molecular subtypes needs further study. Key words: Breast cancer; Serum; Fascin-1
