Intra-abdominal Foreign Body 19 Years After a Cesarean Section

2008
Abstract Intra-abdominal foreign bodies after a surgical procedure are a rare complication, poorly reported in the literature. A 50-year-old female patient presented with a diagnosis of a pelvic mass, suggesting a gynecologic tumor, and had a cesarean section 19 years ago. A surgical resection of the tumor was performed, and the macroscopic anatomopathological study revealed a compress (sponge) inside the mass, like a foreign body reaction.
