WIRELESS LAN FOR ITS SYSTEMS: TRANSFER OF DATA BETWEEN TRANSIT VEHICLES AND CONTROL CENTER

Various types of data, such as computer aided dispatching and automatic vehicle location, and programs and statistical data must be transferred between the transit vehicle and the control center. The introduction of wireless Land Area Network (LAN) as the latest technology for transferring of data is discussed in this paper. The technology and the advantages compared to existing methods are described, and examples are provided of applications in the transit industry.
