Electrolyte Additives and XPS Depth Profiling of SEI on Graphite and LiFePO4

Electrolyte additives are one of the cheapest and most effective ways to improve the performance of the Li-ion battery. They have many different functions: anion receptor prevents unwanted reaction of salt anion; redox shuttles enable to control voltage runaway and shutdown additives terminates the life of a battery when it is overcharged. Here, film forming additives are investigated: vinylene carbonate (VC), lithium bis(oxatlato)borate (LiBOB) and propergyl methanesulfonate (PMS).
