Synthesis of NaY Zeolite from Kaolin and Diatomite by in-situ Crystallization

2012
The microporous NaY zeolite was synthesized through in-situ crystallization using kaolin and diatomite in different pro-portions.The synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope and N2 adsorp-tion-desorption,respectively.The effect of different n(SiO2):n(Al2O3)(mole ratio),n(Na2O):n(SiO2) and n(H2O):n(Na2O) on the rela-tive crystallinity of the NaY zeolite was investigated when m(kaolin):m(diatomite)(mass ratio) was 6:4 and 2:8.The results show that when m(kaolin):m(diatomite) is 6:4,the relative crystallinity of NaY zeolite firstly increases and then decreases with the increase of the n(SiO2):n(Al2O3).The increase of the n(Na2O):n(SiO2) and the decrease of n(H2O):n(Na2O) in the reaction system could favor the formation of NaY zeolite. When m(kaolin):m(diatomite) is 2:8,the relative crystallinity of NaY zeolite firstly increases and then de-creases with increasing the n(SiO2):n(Al2O3).However,the relative crystallinity of NaY zeolite decreases with increasing the n(Na2O):n(SiO2) and decreasing the n(H2O):n(Na2O).
