Power loss reduction of 11 kV feeder using capacitor banks to distribution transformers—a case study

2016
The Paper presents study of 11 kV rural feeder emanating from Jaipur Discom, Jamwa Ramgarh 33 kV GSS. The haphazard growth in agricultural load in these areas resulted in high transmission losses. The Rampura feeder having 230 Buses has been electrical modeled using Mi-Power Software. The load flow study has been performed to assess the feeder loss, loading of 11 kV lines, Distribution transformers and voltage at various points of feeder. The proposed model is designed with capacitor installation considering the reactive power requirements of real time existing system. The relative studies of system With & Without Capacitor Bank have been outlined. For a given load if the power factor is low then the current drawn will be high as a result the losses are increased in analogy with currentpertaining to these situations, voltage profile improvement & stability studies for different loading conditions have been submitted. The financial analysis stating annual cost & energy saving in Lakhs Unit (LUs) is also presented. Lastly, capacity utilization factor with varied swing bus voltages, have also been considered to exhibit considerable outcomes of the system undertaken.
