Synthesis and structural characterisation of the heteronuclear raft complex [Os3(CO)11Hg]3

The heteronuclear clusters [M3(CO)11Hg]3(M = Ru, Os) have been prepared by the reaction of [M3H(CO)11]– with HgI and HgII salts; [Os3(CO)11Hg]3 has been characterised by an X-ray analysis and shown to contain a raft-like Os9Hg3 metal framework.
