First results of an experimental coloured section ring
2002
The coloured section ring (CSR) is a new cost effective all optical WDM SDH ring where a specific wavelength is assigned to each multiplex section (MS) interconnecting two adjacent ADMs. The transmission capacity is increased with 100% protection and new possibilities are offered to interconnect each couple of nodes. CSR is a promising alternative to STM-16 MS-SPRING as the benefits in equipment are in the 17% to 50% range. The full length of a 4 node experimental ring is 180 km with one EDFA per fiber.
