HÉMATOME ÉPIDURAL RACHIDIEN SPONTANÉ

2013
Spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma is a rare entity. The authors report a case of 23-year-old female, with unremarkable past medical history, who has suddenly presented with mild dorsal pain followed by rapid flaccid paraplegia with superficial hypoesthesia at the xiphoidien level, and urinary incontinence. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination showed compressive extradural biconvex collection, extending from T5 to T7, which had a blood signal. Emergency T4 to T7 laminectomy was performed resulting in subtotal postoperative improvement of the deficit. Through this observation, we suggest to discuss the clinical aspects, pathogenesis and exploration methods of this disease, which need a diagnostic and therapeutic emergency.
