Printer with ink supply container identification device

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply a printer of a high reliability which can generate high- quality print images consistently. SOLUTION: The printer with an ink supply container identification device includes an ink supply container 26, an ink supply identification label attached to each container corresponding to the ink supply container 26, a memory 20 for storing an identification of the ink supply container 26 and print data, a controller 22 for comparing the ink supply identification label with the print data stored in the memory 20 and controlling the operation of the printer in accordance with the ink supply identification label, and a print element 54 connected to the ink supply container 26 and controller 22.
