The invention relates to a method for improving grinding efficiency and classification efficiency, and belongs to the technical field of grinding and classification. The method is a method for improving grinding efficiency and classification efficiency when a grinding mill and a hydraulic cyclone as the classification device form an entire unit to be connected into a closed circuit process. According to the method, the equipment structure is as follows: one end of a first-stage rod grinding mill is a feeding port, and the other end of the first-stage rod grinding mill is a discharge port of the first-stage grinding mill, and the discharge port of the first-stage grinding mill is connected with a feeding port of the hydraulic cyclone through a slurry pump, an underflow exit is connected with a feeding port of a second-stage rod grinding mill through a pipe to which a slurry pump is connected, and a discharge port of the second-stage grinding mill is connected with the feeding port of the hydraulic cyclone through the slurry pump. According to the invention, the grinding and classification unit uses the hydraulic cyclone classification equipment as the center, the grinding efficiency is driven by the classification efficiency through the control of feeding concentration and pressure and the diameter of an overflow pipe, so that the tremendous energy consumption generated by using the grinding mill as the center is reduced.
