Function and Mechanism of Nitric Oxide(I)——Characteristics and Function

Nitric oxide(NO) is the first discovered gas molecular in signal transduction.NO plays important roles in neural system,immune system,respiratory system,etc.The main enzyme for NO synthesis is nitric oxide synthase(NOS),which is tightly regulated.Until recently nitrite was found to be another NO source in human body.This review summarizes some main function of nitric oxide and the new progress of nitrite.
