Research on Polyvinyl Alcohol Reinforcing Board and Corrugated Fiberboard

In this study, Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was used to coat board and corrugated fiberboard to improve their physical properties. When PVA content was 8%, the compressive pressure strength of board increased by 37.2%, the bursting strength from inside to outside increased by 26%, from outside to inside increased by 38%, the vertical tensile strength increased by 34%, the horizontal tensile strength increased by 28%, the vertical folding endurance increased by 71%, and the horizontal folding endurance increased by 100%. After corrugated fiberboard was coated with 8% PVA, the folding endurance was the highest. The folding times of HF reached 64 times, and the VF reached 84 times. Bursting strength from outside to inside increased by 22% and from inside to outside increased 34%, respectively. The physical properties of board and corrugated fiberboard coated by PVA significantly improved, and it was a green feasible method to enhance the strength of board and corrugated fiberboard.
