ANALOGICAL REASONING AND SENTENCE PARSING
1990
Publisher Summary
The computer science laboratory for mechanics and engineering sciences (LIMSI) has developed ANDI, which is a deterministic parser. From a sentence written in natural language, it puts together two representations: one syntactic and the other semantic. When a sentence is presented to module, its analysis is performed with the help of the structures already existing in memory, instead of using the knowledge that ANDI uses. The present study is concerned with two different fields of Artificial Intelligence research: analogical reasoning (A.R.), and sentence analysis. This chapter discusses the problems presented by A.R. and the ideas that have been put forward to solve them. It also describes the principles followed in the present study with the aim of providing a sound A.R. module. It also proposes a solution to an incremental A.R. mechanism.
