Infants who were born extremely preterm were more likely to survive if they were born in Sweden, than in England or France.1 Surprisingly, this did not seem to result in more complications. Morgan et al used national population-based cohorts to compare the outcomes for children born in the three countries between 22 and 26 weeks of gestation. The authors suggest that a major explanation for the differences could be variations in societal choices between the countries.
