DO MOBILE PHONES DREAM OF ELECTRIC ORCHESTRAS

MoPhO is the newly established Mobile Phone Orchestra of CCRMA. It is the first repertoireand ensemblebased mobile phone performance group of its kind. We describe the motivation and making of such an ensemble and the repertoire of MoPhO’s first concert, performed in January 2008. The ensemble demonstrates that mobile phones orchestras are interesting technological and artistic platforms for electronic music composition and performance.
