EnglishThe paper takes as its starting point the information put forward by Vatican II about the necessity for ecclesiological renewal, and leads to posing the question about the real possibility of building up an ecumenical sacramental model, taking account in the process of the contribution of Pope Francis in his recent thinking, especially Evangelii gaudium. The important ecclesiological renewal, «aggiorna-mento» as the untranslatable original says, requires the Church to recover an awareness of the presence of the Holy Spirit (divine element), and of the lived experience of God in the written testimony of the Word of God (human element). Both factors are mutually interconnected: they mutually influence each other and are involved in the discourse of sacramentality, which was a significantly new element during the Vatican II but has been of little influence in post-conciliar times.
