Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease, whose pathophysiology involves a complex interplay of genetic predisposition, environmental factors, immune dysregulation, and altered skin barrier function. Emerging evidence suggests that dysbiosis of the skin microbiome plays a key role in epidermal barrier impairment and inflammation, which are hallmarks of AD1,2 .
