A contraction of the Poincaré group suitable for high energy

Abstract A covariance group suitable for describing ultrarelativistic kinematics is constructed through an Inonu-Wigner contraction of the Poincare group. Eikonalization, helicity conservation and impact parameter representation arise as a consequence of our scheme.
