Quality Assessment of Cold Sealed Films

SUMMARYThis paper describes attempts to establish an on-line test to assess the seal quality of cold sealed finishes. The limitations of the established techniques, as reported in previous papers, are taken into consideration and the results obtained are related to previous laboratory corrosion tests. Alternative proposals for testing cold sealed finishes are examined and an on-line chemical test is proposed. The results from this test are discussed and compared with the results obtained from the other tests. Possible chemical interferences with the proposed method are considered.
