SUPERAÇÃO DE DORMÊNCIA DE SEMENTES DE Merremia cissoides (LAM.)

The aim of this work was to evaluate methods for overcoming Jitiranas (Merremia cissoides) seeds dormancy. The treatments were: immersion of Jitiranas seeds in sulfuric acid during 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60 minutes and control (no treatment). The experiment was carried out in the completely ran- domized design, with ten treatments and four replications, with 20 seeds each. The variables evaluated were: germination percentage, germination speed index, medium time for germination, dry weight and height of seed- ling obtained 16 days after sowing. The immersion of seeds in sulfuric acid during 50 minutes is an efficient method to overcome dormancy and promotes germination, enabling quickly and greater Jitiranas seedling emergence.
