KAP Study of STD patients in a hospital setup.

Research Question:- What is the extent of knowledge regarding STD in patients attending skin & V.D. O.P.D. Objective: To assess the level of knowledge regarding symptoms and preventive aspects. 2. To study the morbidity pattern of STDs. 3. To understand perceptions regarding sexual health problems. 4. To study the sexual behaviour of patients with STD. 5. To study the risk factors associated with the transmission of various STDs. 6. To suggest preventive measures. Setting:- skin & OYD. at S.R.N. Hospital Allahabad Study Design:- Cross-Sectional ; Participants:- Patients attending Skin & VD. O.P.D. Statistical analysis:- Percentages. Z test. Chi-square test. Results: Majority of the respondents suffering from STD belonged to the younger age group 20-30 years and were unmarried. Casual sex partners as likely source of infection was seen in majority of respondents. In all oral sex practice was found maximum in respondents practicing abnormal sex. Conclusion:- The poor level or knowledge about preventive measures resulted in high-risk behavior of the respondents. with minimal use of condoms of safe sex practices. (authors)
