INTRODUCTION The incidence of type 2 diabetes among children and adolescents has increased in the past 30 years, mostly related to the rise in childhood obesity. For this reason, there is an emergent need to find the best screening test to identify patients at risk of diabetes. Glycosylated hemoglobin (A1C) is a valuable marker in identifying patients with diabetes and prediabetes in adults.
