The idea of energy minimized control of a belt conveyor plant for bulk materials (sand, salt, coal, overburden) is given in the control of the belt speed depending of the actual changing load. By comparison with the mostly used constant speed of the belt conveyor will now the revs of the electrical drive of the belt conveyor controlled in dependence of the load. The aim is the using of the full capacity of the belt. This is a maximale distribute equally use of the belt capacity and an important economize of energy. The described control is applicated for the optimal use of the belt capacity of a belt conveyor plant for crude lignite in the open-cast mining Nochten of the LAUBAG AG. The demonstrated automation conception can be used with changing load and needs a speed controlled drives.
