Industrial Revolution 1.0 and 2.0

This chapter depicts an overall understanding of the first and second revolution transition in history from 1760s–1914s. The First Industrial Revolution started in the mid-17th century where mechanical facilities were introduced to the world. For instance, steam and powered machines were developed to ease workers in the mass goods production, enhancing the production efficiency and scale. The first revolution also be noted as the beginning of the industry culture in which small businesses grew from serving a limited number of customers to a large organization with thousands of employees. Subsequently followed by Industrial Revolution 2.0 that began at 1870s, the main contribution has shifted to the development of electrical machines. This era is also known as an evolution of Industry 1.0 where the industry culture was introduced into the management system. Many production management techniques such as labor division, timely manufacturing, and lean manufacturing principles were discovered to improve the quality and quantity of the products.
