Enzyme Catalysed Cleavage of the N-N Bond of N-Nitrosamines

The bioactivation pathway of N-nitrosamines is very well understood and has been investigated. The rate limiting step is the cytochrome P-450 dependent hydroxylation on the ?-carbon (1, 2). Very little is known however about possible inactivation pathways.
