Fluorine‐Enabled Cationic Gold Catalysis: Functionalized Hydration of Alkynes

A one-pot tandem addition/oxidative coupling/fluorination sequence performed with the alkyne, an arylboronic acid, water, and Selectfluor in the presence of a gold(I) catalyst affords α-aryl-α-fluoroketones.
