Field Excitation Optimization in Hybrid Excited Switched Flux Permanent Magnet Machine for Maximum Output Power

2019
In hybrid excited switched flux permanent magnet (HESFPM) machines, the d-axis flux-linkage can be adjusted by both the dc field current (if) and the d-axis current (id). Thus, in the flux-weakening region, the high output power can be obtained by changing the field excitation of HESFPM machine with the limitation of converter constraint. In this paper, a current distributer for the armature and field currents accounting for the winding resistance and magnetic saturation is developed to obtain the maximum output power of HESFPM machine. It shows that by taking the winding resistance and magnetic saturation into consideration the maximum output power is higher than that without accounting for the winding resistance and magnetic saturation. The experiment results on a prototype machine are presented for verification.
