The use of synthetic gypsum in cement production is gaining more attention from cement manufacturers. Mark R. Stillwagon, Ron Huard and Larry Smith, Allentown Cement Co., USA, and Jeffrey D. Hook, Lehigh-Union Bridge, USA, describe the use of over 45 000 t of synthetic gypsum to replace natural gypsum at the Allentown Cement Co.'s (ACC) plant in Evansville, Pennsylvania.
