Medicinal composition containing specific 4-aryl-5-carbamoyl-1,4-dihydropyridine

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicinal composition which contains a specific dihydropyridine as an active ingredient, has an antagonism against platelet activating factor and is useful for treating allergic diseases and inflammatory diseases. SOLUTION: This medicinal composition contains a compound of the formula (R is phenyl unsubstituted or substituted with nitro, a halogen or the like; R and R are each H, a 1-6C alkyl; Z is a 1-6C alkoxy, hydroxy; Y is 1,4- phenylene, pyridin-2,5-diyl; X is a 5- or 6-membered aromatic heterocyclic ring having N atoms in the ring) or its salt as an active ingredient together with a diluent or a carrier. A typical compound of the formula is 4-(2- chlorophenyl)-1,4-dihydro-3-ethoxycarbonyl-6-methyl-2-[4-(2-methylimid azo[4,5-c] pyrid-1-yl)phenyl]-5-[N-(2-pyridyl)carbamoyl]pyridine.
