Generation of Stable Near-infrared and Violet Femtosecond Pulses from a Self-mode-locked Ti: Sapphire Laser

1995
We report the construction and characterization of a self-mode-locked (SML)Ti:Sapphire laser based on domestically available components. Stable femtosecond pulses with35kW peak power and.good beam quality are generated by this laser. By using second harmonic generation (SHG) technique, the infrared pulses can be easily converted to violet pulsesof 35 mW average POwer. This laser, through its performance, proves itself a reliable femtosecond Pulse source for the study of ultrafast phenomena in condensed Phase.
