Dementia, Religion and Spirituality
2019
This presentation explores the complex interface between religion, dementia and human rights. There is a body of research that suggests that religiosity is a force for good in old age, with particular health benefits for those with dementia. However, enabling religious observance on the part of people with dementia presents challenges for those who care for them. This presentation highlights some of those challenges and explores how the courts have responded to issues of faith and mental capacity in England and Wales.
