A multimode wideband dual-polarized antenna based on stub-loaded dipoles

2017
In this paper, a multimode wideband dual-polarized antenna based on stub-loaded dipoles is proposed for 2G/3G bands. Its radiator consists of two pairs of dipoles loaded with stubs. By loading the stub to a straight dipole, a new adjustable resonant mode is formed and combines with the primal resonant mode of the dipole to obtain a wide impedance bandwidth. Two pairs of coplanar striplines (CPSs) are used to feed the radiators. Measurement shows that the antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth of 25.6% with SWR<1.5 (1.7 to 2.2 GHz) and a high isolation of greater than 27 dB within the bandwidth. Also, a stable radiation pattern with half-power beamwidth of 65±4.2 degree at horizontal plane and a stable gain of 8.1±0.8 dBi are obtained over the operating frequency band.
