Performance Comparison of Dual Stage Photovoltaics-Based Water Pumping Systems

With the advancement in technologies and aiming toward the reduction of carbon footprints, the energy sector is headed toward renewable energy resources, among which solar energy is being utilized using photovoltaic technology. PV generates DC output and it is necessary to vary the level of the DC output in accordance with the respective PV application. In the following paper, a comparison of the performance of DC level converters specifically for the application of standalone PV-based water pumping and irrigation system is presented. This paper includes the performance study of Buck, Boost, SEPIC, and Cuk converters.
