The Culture Art Center in Xiamen city is reconstructed from two large-scale industrial buildings of steel structure.Its total building area is 1.2×105m2.There is noprecedent for this kind of large steel structured building to beused as public assembly building.Its fire protection design is abig problem.Taking the review of its fire protection design aswell as the corresponding treatment as an example,the articleverified and discussed the feasibility of the fire protectionmeasures such as safety evacuation,fire and smoke prevention,fire detection and automatic fire suppression technologies with the help of performance-based analysis and assessment.
