Subjects and methods: Subjects aged 18 y with selfreported OAB symptoms for 6 months, at least ‘‘some moderate problems’’ on the Patient Perception of Bladder Control (PPBC), 8 micturitions and 2 and <15 urgency urinary incontinence (UUI) episodes per 24 h on 3-day diary entered a 2-week, open-label run-in with tolterodine ER 4 mg. Suboptimal responders ( 50% decrease in UUI episodes during the run-in) were randomized to PBO (n = 320) or FESO (n = 308; 4 mg for 1 wk, 8 mg for wk 2– 12) once daily.
