EFFECTS OF IONIZING RADIATIONS ON THE COLLAGEN. I. THE COLLAGEN FRACTION IN THE IRRADIATED SKIN

1962
The effect of irradiation on collagen fractions of rat's skin was studied. With the doses and techniques used, it was possible to determine a decrease in the soluble fraction on the ninth and fifteenth day after irradiation, which is followed also by a decrease in the insoluble fraction. The hypothesis that the collagen deficit may be ascribed to the temporary lessening of synthetic cellular capacities unsaturated by the effect of the radiant action was proposed. (auth)
