This assembly comprising a steering column body (2) in which is rotatably mounted a steering shaft, said body being movably mounted between flanges of a fixing structure thereof on the rest of the vehicle structure and having at one end means for mounting between the flanges associated with the body of the blocking means in position, displaceable between a locking position and an unlocking position, is characterized in that the body mounting means (2) between the flanges of the mounting structure are formed by a portion (8) thereof integral with the remainder thereof and provided with opposite and parallel contact surfaces (9, 10) adapted to cooperate with the flanges of the attaching structure.
