Formation of Placer Deposits

Placer deposits consist of heavy minerals, which are concentrated during the bedload transport in rivers or in the surf zone of beaches. The high specific density, the mechanical, as well as the chemical stability of these minerals are the prerequisites for the formation of economically valuable deposits.
