Contributions of hydrogen zero-point vibration to fluorine transferred hyperfine constants nearest neighbour to the Hi0 centre in CaF2

1982
A recent calculation by A.N. Jette and F.J. Adrian (see ibid., vol.14, p.2319, 1981) of transferred hyperfine constants (HFCS) of fluorine nuclei nearest neighbour to trapped interstitial hydrogen atoms in the alkaline earth fluorides differed considerably ( approximately 20%) from experiment. This is somewhat puzzling since the theory included both charge transfer and electron correlation effects. In this letter it is pointed out that contributions from the zero-point vibration of the hydrogen atoms removes much of this difference.
