β−Diketiminate Ligands as Supports for Alkaline Earth and Aluminum Complexes: Synthesis, Characterization, and Reactivity Studies

2010
My doctoral work is based on the synthesis, characterization and reactivity studies on complexes of non-toxic Group 2 metals (magnesium, calcium and strontium) and aluminum supported with the β-diketiminate ligand L (L = CH{(CMe)(2,6-iPr2C6H3N)}2). The main highlights are synthesis of well defined hydrocarbon soluble amide, hydroxide, oxide, chloride and fluoride complexes of strontium, preparation of a heterobimetallic complex using strontium hydroxide by Umpolung to an acid, preparation of acetylides and iodides of calcium and strontium, especially a [I-Ca-I-Ca-I-Ca-I]2+ chain stabilized by two chelating β-diketiminate ligands, synthesis of a heterobimetallic hydride complex of magnesium and aluminium, synthesis of a heterobimetallic complex having Zr-O-Sr structural motif by using zirconium hydroxide and strontium amide, synthesis of a N-heterocyclic aluminium complex, N-H bond cleavage of ammonia at aluminum(III) center, synthesis of heteroleptic aluminum complexes, cycloaddition reaction of a ketone with N-heterocyclic aluminium complex and construction of heterobimetallic complexes containing aluminum without an oxygen bridge.
