Integrated Optical Current Sensor with low-birefringence optical waveguides

We describe hereafter the fabrication of very low birefringence waveguides (?neff<1.10-6) and their use as the sensing medium in an integrated optical current sensor prototype. In particular, we show that the sensititvity to the decentering of the current conductor or the presence of an external conductor greatly is greatly reduced.
