Native Hip Dislocations

2018
Hip dislocations are rare injuries that occur in young patients involved in high energy trauma. They have a high incidence of associated injuries. The classification is determined by the position of the femoral head in relationship to the acetabulum—anterior or posterior. The direction of displacement is determined by the position of the leg at the time of impact (hip flexed/adducted, i.e., dashboard injury—posterior, hip abducted—anterior). The posterior hip dislocations are the most common—90%. The incidence of anterior hip dislocations is 10%. The treatment is EMERGENT REDUCTION.
