"Pardon me," says grandpa to his adolescent grandson, in a scenario to which nearly every teenager can relate, "but I didn't catch your last sentence." This is not only because teenagers speak fast, mumble, and use "new language." According to the latest World Health Organization (WHO) survey, one in three senior citizens suffers from hearing loss. Among all age groups, a total of 466 million people are affected, which is roughly 5% of the global population. Researchers predict that this number will rise to 900 million people by 2050.
