Cut gas turbine NO{sub x} economically

Older installed combustion turbines can benefit from a strategy of on-engine development of low NO{sub x} technology (LNT) to achieve modest NO{sub x} reduction (in the range of 25 to 40%) with both gas and oil fuels. Power Tech Associates (PTA) of Media, Pennsylvania, has successfully demonstrated LNT through on-engine development programs with Colorado Cogen Operators (CCO) of Brush, Colorado on a Westinghouse W251AA unit, and with Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP and L) on Westinghouse W251AA, W501AA and GE frame 5N units. Results of these field tests are discussed.
