The stellar capture rate of 136Ba

Abstract High resolution 136 Ba(n,γ) measurements were carried out at GELINA and the capture areas of 184 resonances in the range 0.4–60 keV were derived. From these values the Maxwellian - averaged neutron capture cross section was calculated vs temperature kT from 5 to 50 keV. The results for this unbranched s -only isotope are discussed in the light of the recent models of s -process nucleosynthesis.
