Design and Manufacture of Engineered Components Clad by Hip

1992
The use of coatings is a widely accepted technique for improving the surface properties las corrosion and wear resistance) of components produced from relatively low-cost materials. Numerous processes can be used, such as plasma or Rame spraying, weld overlay coating, etc. Hot isostatic pressing is also used industrial for the production of clad or multi-material components, based on the densification and or diffusion bonding of powdered or solid materials [1,3]. The advantages of the HIP-c adding technique have already been exploited for the manufacture of components combining nickel, cobalt or titanium alloys with structural or stainless steels, particularly for corrosion or wear resistant applications : valve bodies well heads and various oil and gas drilling rig components, components tor marine engineering and transport of corrosive fluids, extrusion dies, twin-screw extruder bodies and screws, etc.
