Complications and Patient Management

Although a number of publications report lasting and even permanent improvement of chronic pain following analgesic infiltration, their relative and sometimes all too temporary efficacy would suggest that these procedures be incorporated into global, multidisciplinary management. They should only be offered after weighing the analgesic and functional benefits against the complications that these blocks can occasion in patients with chronic pain.
