Plantas alimentícias não convencionais (PANCs) como promotoras de segurança alimentar e nutricional

The present study presents a diagnosis carried out by the Extension Project on Food Security and Sovereignty (UEPB) in the form of a questionnaire, which aimed to identify the respondents' knowledge about non-conventional food plants (PANCs), as well as their interest in participating in actions of the project. A semi-structured questionnaire was used, following a script composed of a set of open and closed questions applied online using the Survey Monkey virtual platform in the city of Campina Grande-PB, during the period of May, 2019. The questionnaire was answered by 80 people, observing that there is a great ignorance regarding the term PANCs, as well as a great interest on the subject. We conclude that the research and extension related to the PANCs are of great relevance and value, both for their ecological value of biodiversity valorization, and to promote the food and nutritional sovereignty of the population.
